Radiofrequency Microneedling

Lennox Head

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling is a medical skin procedure that combines fine microneedles with controlled radiofrequency energy. Using sterile, single-use microneedle cartridges, the RF Combo Injector creates precise micro-channels in the skin while delivering RF energy at a controlled depth.

This process gently heats the deeper layers of the skin while keeping the surface relatively protected. The controlled heat stimulates the skin’s natural repair response, including collagen and elastin production, which can improve skin firmness, texture, and overall quality over time.

The Science

RF microneedling works on two levels simultaneously. The microneedles create precise micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body’s natural wound healing response. At the same time, controlled radiofrequency energy is delivered at depth, generating heat that further stimulates collagen and elastin remodelling in the deeper dermal layers while leaving the skin surface relatively intact.

The result is progressive skin improvement over 4-6 weeks as new collagen and elastin form, with continued improvements seen over subsequent months. Where boosters such as Klardie R+ or Exomide are used, the open micro-channels created by the needles allow these actives to penetrate far more effectively than topical application alone.

Depending on your treatment plan, the RF device may also be used to inject or topically apply a targeted product. Your practitioner will explain the recommended approach during your consultation.

NCTF (New Cellular Treatment Factor) – Included in base treatment

A revitalising solution containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and hyaluronic acid that hydrates and nourishes the skin, supporting overall skin quality and resilience.

Klardie R+ – Additional $300

A skin boosting solution with salmon-derived PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) alongside amino acids, peptides, minerals and hydrating components that help support skin recovery and overall skin quality following treatment.

Exomide (Exosomes) – Additional $300

Uses exosomes containing a blend of peptides, antioxidants, and hydrating ingredients that help improve skin elasticity, firmness, and radiance.

RF microneedling is a medical procedure. A full consultation and medical history assessment is required before treatment. Please inform your practitioner if you:

Please also advise your practitioner of any known allergies, sensitivities, or previous reactions to skincare, injectables, or biologically derived skin treatments.

Please note that RF microneedling can cause moderate to significant discomfort depending on the person and treatment area. Pain management measures are taken during treatment, and sensations usually settle quickly once the procedure is complete. Please speak with your practitioner if you have any concerns before or during treatment.

Common Expected Side Effects

These are normal and usually settle within 24-72 hours:

Less common Side Effects:

Product-Specific Risks

NCTF: Possible temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising at treated sites. Less common: infection, hypersensitivity or allergic reaction.

Klardie R+: Possible mild redness, swelling or sensitivity. Less common: allergic or hypersensitivity reactions. Not recommended for patients with known hypersensitivity to DNA-based or biologically derived skin products.

Exomide: Possible mild redness, irritation or sensitivity. Less common: allergic or sensitivity reactions.

A topical anaesthetic is applied 30 minutes before your appointment to ensure comfort. Treatment settings including depth, energy and technique are selected by your practitioner based on your individual skin and indication. The procedure typically takes 20-45 minutes depending on the area treated.

Pre-Procedure Care:

2 weeks before:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, or self-tanning products
  • Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, microdermabrasion, or other resurfacing procedures
  • Do not have anti-wrinkle, filler, or other injectable treatments in the area without discussing with your practitioner

7 days before:

  • Avoid skin needling, waxing, electrolysis, or depilatory creams in the treatment area
  • Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatories, fish oil, vitamin E, or other blood-thinning supplements unless prescribed

24-48 hours before:

  • Stop topical retinoids, AHA/BHA products, benzoyl peroxide, or any exfoliating products unless directed
  • Avoid alcohol and stay well-hydrated
  • Ensure cold sores are fully healed
  • Shave the treatment area if you usually do so. Note: you may not be able to shave for up to 1 week after treatment
  • Notify the clinic of any illness, infection, or skin irritation

Post-Procedure Care:

First 12 hours:

  • Keep skin clean and untouched
  • If sent home with any remaining NCTF, Exomide or Klardie treatment ampoule, use clean hands to apply a small amount to the treated area every hour while awake until the product is used. This is most effective while micro-channels are still open immediately after treatment
  • Use a clean pillowcase the night of treatment
  • Do not wash your face
  • Do not apply any other skincare products
  • Avoid touching, rubbing or picking the skin
  • Avoid makeup, exercise, heat, alcohol and sweating

12-48 hours:

  • Gently cleanse with a mild, non-active cleanser
  • If any treatment product remains, continue applying until used
  • Use a gentle moisturiser
  • Avoid active skincare products (Vitamin A/retinoids, hydroquinone, exfoliants, vitamin C)
  • Avoid makeup, exercise, swimming, saunas or heat exposure
  • Avoid direct sun exposure; use protective clothing and headwear and remain in shade where possible

Days 3-7:

  • Resume gentle skincare. Makeup may be worn if needed (mineral makeup preferred)
  • For patients treated with Klardie, use the provided serum or moisturiser morning and evening
  • Apply SPF 50+ when going outdoors
  • Keep skin well moisturised
  • Avoid active or exfoliating skincare products
  • Avoid other skin treatments unless advised
  • Avoid self-tanner or excessive sun exposure

After day 7, you may gradually return to your normal skincare routine once your skin feels settled.
