Like many of my clients, I didn’t always have great skin. In my 20s, while studying medicine, I battled stubborn acne that knocked my confidence and drained my bank account. I tried every skincare product I could get my hands on: creams, scrubs, serums and in-salon treatments, most of them expensive, and none of them actually worked.
Then one day, it clicked: acne is a medical condition. I was training to be a doctor. Why wasn’t I treating it like one?
That moment changed everything. I used my medical training to take an evidence-based approach to skincare and finally cleared my skin. More importantly, I understood firsthand the emotional and financial toll of skin issues. That experience still drives everything I do today.
I’m Dr. May Marr, a physician who’s spent the last 16 years dedicated to aesthetic medicine. Originally trained in oncology, I pivoted to aesthetics when I relocated to Lennox Head in 2007 to raise my young family. Since then, I’ve earned a GP Dermatology Fellowship and from the Australian Institute of Dermatology, and trained with global leaders in aesthetics like Dr Steven Liew. I began my aesthetics journey as a one-woman band, working from a converted garage at my family home. In 2020, I moved into a purpose-built clinic designed to offer a comprehensive range of advanced skin treatments all while staying true to the values that have guided me from day one.
